• Versatile Fit for Various Lathe Sizes: This lathe chuck cover is designed to fit most common small to mid-size metal lathes with up to a 12 inch diameter chuck maximum. Slotted brackets can be flipped around on the mounting extrusion and have 4" of slot to allow front to rear adjustment during installation.
• Efficient Construction: Built with durability in mind, this lathe guard is constructed from industrial aluminum extrusion, offering long-lasting strength and resilience. The gas spring helps in opening the guard and keeps it in open position for set-up and part change further enhancing the guard's functionality, ensuring smooth operation and reliable performance over time.
• Enhanced Safety Features: The lathe guard window is made from 1/4" thick Lexan (polycarbonate), providing exceptional impact resistance and robust protection. This shield covers a wide area, ensuring maximum safety for the user. The guard is finished with PPG's powder-coated "OSHA Safety Orange" paint, making it highly visible and adding an extra layer of safety by increasing its visibility in a workshop setting
• Sturdy Mounting Method: Mounts onto the lathes gearbox by using the adjustable brackets to bolt to the machine's existing gearbox bolt holes with an optional lathe chuck guard mount style - bolt to side of gearbox. Customer supplies bolts approximately 3/4" longer than the existing ones. This provides a strong and stable foundation for the lathe guard. Its construction ensures that the guard remains securely in place during operation, contributing to a safer working environment.
• Multiple Versions Available: This lathe guard is available with or without a safety interlock switch. This is the non-interlocked version. Safety switches are rated to only 2 amps and require some form of motor control to adapt to your 3-phase machine. Safety interlock retrofit can be purchased and easily added to existing guards later.
